''Praise or blame has but a momentary effect on the man whose love of beauty in the abstract makes him a severe critic on his own works.''

This was definitely the most boring movie I have ever watched.. I just wasted 2 hours of my life waiting for Fanny to be quiet and for John to say something more interesting.
But alas, here is my review on the characters and the movie.
First: Fanny Brawne
I for one did not like the way Abbie Cornish depicted Fanny. Though I have barely read any information on this certain set of people, I found her much to extravagant and yet, not outgoing enough to fit the extravagant. I thought half of her costumes were visually interesting, but wholly impractical (and sort of stupid looking).
John Keats
They could not have found a better actor for Mr. Keats. Oh my gosh, he was absolutely perfect looking. from his hair to his pantaloons :D
Thank you Ben Wishaw :D
Mr. Brown
Pig.
But he had the most beautiful Scottish accent. Reminded me sooo much of my violin teacher. I could listen to that all day.
I ended up liking Mr. Brown in the end, even though he was a horrible man. I don't know why, but somehow his love for Keats and how much he really looked like he cared at the end really turned me around.
Movie in general:
Best Parts!
Okay best part is when the men sing all Capella Mozart. It was absolutely beautiful.. and the most interesting part of the film (aside from that short scene with the dancing).
Worst Parts:
The movie is so boring! And I felt really sorry for Abigail when she becomes "with child"
Cool Stuff:
No sexual content, other than a remark from Mr. Brown and another hint which I only noticed because I read the plugged in online review.
Other than that I say.. Don't waste your time, watch North and South instead. And if you have already watched that, watch Miss Potter. That one is a real heart breaker.
Oh and I almost forgot!
This movie has weird fancy hats and these crazy odd slippers that sort of look like sneakers in some shots..
odd...

I'll keep that in mind! :P
ReplyDeleteHmm....I actually adored this movie. I also adore John Keats though.
ReplyDeleteAnd this movie was really good in my opinion, maybe because it was so innocent, yet very real. The ending was probably the saddest ending I've ever seen though. ;)

I have heard mixed reviews about this, some say it's good, others bad. I am not sure if is would interest me. The girls clothes look weird! What time period is is? I love those voices that are rich, and you could listen to them all day! :)
ReplyDeleteI want to see Miss Potter!
~Elizabeth
Elizabeth- the movie is based in the early 1800's
ReplyDeleteMiss potter is to die for! :D
